Remembering how we started

I just binged Good Morning Call, a live-action J Drama chronicling a campus love story. As a result I am feeling nostalgic. Continue reading “Remembering how we started”

Life, August 2018

Pink Sky

August… This month always comes with a lot of thoughts and looking back. Typically it’s the “quiet” month after the half-year mark and right before the holiday season, which in turn has traditionally been crazy, work and traffic-wise. Can’t say I’m looking forward to it honestly.

This year though August is a month of shifts. Like, big shifts. Huge. Talking about career-defining shifts, life-defining shifts, body-defining shifts. I’m writing this now before I change my mind. It’s always proven valuable, for me, to be recording this somehow. I used to do it all for myself, and maybe a few friends. I’ve been returning to paper for two years now, though honestly it’s a lot of garbage and anxiety-reduction exercises. These days I do not know what I do it for anymore. But one thing sticks: my future self always thanks my past self for trying to aid my ever-paltry memory. Even if it is a known fact that all memory fails. Continue reading “Life, August 2018”

Looking up and inward

mnl-color-3mnl-color-2mnl-color-1Manila looks a whole lot different when you look up (and invest a few dollars in an analog emulation app’s premium version). VSCO has always been my go-to, and I’ve bought so many film packs already before they introduced the X membership (but I think $20 / year might be too much?). Then there’s also Afterlight, VHS Cam, Snapseed, SKWRT — and now Kuji, the Huji for Android, which is honestly not bad. Mildly obsessed with it, and I’ve infected Ranie as well… follow our fan account? Haha.

(A random set of paragraphs about my life follows) Continue reading “Looking up and inward”

Ships

I can’t sleep yet, on account of bad food decisions and maybe too much time today. This isn’t going to be very clear. Forgive me, future self.

Like the rest of the world, we finished off Stranger Things 2 last week, but I haven’t properly processed post-mortem perspectives about it until right now, on account of last Monday being a Monday: it came with that sort of numbing adrenaline rush you dive into headfirst, much like the cold shower you jump into just to get it over with – you’re not happy about it, but it’s happening anyway. Also, I had to finish the Beyond aftershow special as well, made all the more charming by Jim Rash – Netflix knows us so well, doesn’t it? And how well it is shaping us too – more on that later. I feel like I have much more to write about the peripherals of the entire experience – binge-watching culture, the context of adults finding escapism with a set of well-cast, perfectly-mannered talented white kids – than the actual content of the show itself. Looking back on Ghost Month

Blog-Collage-09052016-2

I have no public entries for August because there were no travels, no big weekends, no photogenic events. But there were a lot of early mornings, spent attacking blank unlined pages with a 0.3 black pen, writing over and over and over and over: “Stop being negative. Don’t be sad. Look on the bright side. Just grit your teeth and do it.” So I went ahead and did all that.

Next Level Godzilla shirt, SM leather shorts, Kara Zapatos flats, Forever21 tan leather bag
The Godzilla shirt was a cool hand-me-down from an editor… decided to pair it with some weekend-appropriate details in matching hues. Worn for a “miracle” afternoon of coffee and shopping which happened even though we were on our last $$$… and we didn’t even spend a single centavo. More on that next time.
Still not quite back to my usual color after our beach weekend in Calaguas. This didn’t feel quite at home at my WordPress and Tumblr so I’m giving this old, self-serving blog a little dusting-off!

Reboot | Faux 2x Exposures

Random snaps of recent walks that really have no meaning. So some composition that makes even less of that.
In any case, I have to seriously get over myself and my dilemmas. And start thinking clearly and facing the morning and being more ADULT and what have you. Yup. Cause it’s clearly affecting everything. Need a new disposition.
