Because the Bible said God rested on the 7th day, we are hardwired to love Sundays, and the resilience it brings. And my summer clothes in November – why not? Tied my hair in a bun and pulled off an easy, weekend-appropriate combination today (as I’m writing this) 🙂

These past weeks have been crazy, to say the least. School has started in full force and it coincided with shoots and various raket deadlines. I was on a “yes” streak last month and somehow everything just needed to be done and attended to all at the same time this month. Needless to say, it took its toll on my body and my heart. Saturday night I was still racking my brains for things to do for Monday’s shoot, and I was on the edge. I had no sleep because I spent the night in Batangas for Tin’s wake. But I know better than to gripe – these opportunities are blessings. So I grit my teeth and do it as long as I can because I love it and these are what I asked for.

Finally I got my long 8-hour sleep this morning so I woke up feeling refreshed. Save for 1 tiny write-up, my inbox was empty of work-related duties today! Yay 🙂

After service I met up w/ Ma’am Ai in Cubao. She was my instructor in our Advertising and PR class in UPLB. She’s a blogger, a literary savant, and actually quite the kikay girl. If it isn’t obvious yet, she’s my personal idol. We spent an hour discussing career-and-life-related things, if you can believe it. But it felt more like chika than a serious topic.

Her too-good-to-be-true job enables her to live in Singapore but spend long bouts of time in Manila. She brought me a book – Haruki Murakami’s latest novel 1Q84. Next to Margaret Atwood, he’s my favorite fiction writer since After Dark and The Wind-up Bird Chronicle (and all his other novels). Actually it’s useless to point that out because I haven’t met any fiction fan  who doesn’t like Murakami’s surreal, languid prose anyway (and no, I don’t think I’m going into a critical commentary here).

So – I had excitedly asked Ma’am Ai to get me a copy of this book overseas because I wanted to be first in line to read it. But oh oh oh instead she told me it’s her Christmas gift to me! Yaaaay! Check out my Willing Willie face there. Thank you Ma’am Ai! 😀 I’m so excited to start reading it.

Anyway, I found out last Friday that National Bookstore is already selling the book, but I like the international cover better :). So inspired by Ma’am Ai’s generosity. Her gift, plus the message in this afternoon’s service, strengthened my conviction and drive to pursue with my goals. All for you God! Thank you!
