I ran with my family on Mother’s Day! We joined a fun run sponsored by my alma mater, St. Scholastica’s Academy Marikina. It’s a fund raising event for my school’s scholars (hence the event’s name!)
This is my first run ever so I just took the 3k challenge – I did it in about 20 minutes and came in 49th out of about 200 people. 🙂 I’m just really happy that I got to complete the race with good breathing and pacing, and most importantly, w/o walking!
When Mama signed us up I freaked out because all my siblings are athletic and fast and I’ve never really been into any sort of exercise, ever. They tease me all the time about it. But I’m now old and strategic so I prepared for this run by jogging and checking out the route this week, and I was surprised to discover that I actually enjoyed it, that it made me feel good, and that I could do it. So I think I’m gonna take up this running thing seriously. 🙂 Time to be serious about that resolution to be healthier! If anything, it’s a nice thing that will help me cope with the stress I face at work on a daily basis 🙂
And yes, I think getting myself spankin’ new trainers was a pretty powerful motivation 🙂
Photo by my brother Paolo – I’m still doing some hunting for an actual shot of me running!
#EDIT: The official results came out – I’m 33rd out of 206 and I finished the race in exactly 20:59 🙂
